Events Programme: May 2012 4th PHOTOGRAPHIC WALK as part of THE PEAK DISTRICT OUTDOORS FESTIVAL 2012. The second of three photo walks organised as part of local Walking Festivals. Based close to the Peak District National Park, Dav's photography encaptures the nature of this varied landscape as well as those further away from home, including Scotland, North Yorkshire and North Wales. Website here. 26th DIMMINGSDALE PHOTO WALK as part of THE NAT. FOREST WALKING FESTIVAL 2012 The third photo walk in the series is to Dimminsdale where there is a real variety of landscapes and architecture of photogenic interest. Care will be needed as the walk passes deep holes and over 6-10 stiles. This will be a 2.5 mile leisurely walk. Meet at 10am at the car park at Spring Wood, near Staunton Harold Reservoir. FRPS FBIPP – A LIFETIME IN PHOTOJOURNALISM Denis Thorpe was inspired by the magazine Picture Post and the early Magnum photographers. He worked on various morning and evening papers in the provinces before a long period with the Daily Mail. In 1974 he joined the staff of the Guardian where he covered assignments across the British Isles and did special reports in Europe, the Middle East, China, India, the Soviet Union and Japan during a 22-year career with the paper. Denis has won many international awards and has produced several books and exhibitions of his work.
