Events Programme: June 2010 7th - President’s Lecture With Tom Mackie - Special presentation in the Grange’s Mostyn Suite American-born Tom Mackie settled in the UK in 1985, since when he has established an international reputation and received numerous awards for his remarkable landscape, travel and architectural images.  Tom is the author of several photo books and holds workshops all round the world. Ticket prices and other details to follow.                   8th - Techniques Tuesday 14th - Monthly Digital Competition : Open, Judge: Graham Jones DAPGB, EFIAP 21st - Club Outdoor Meet – Allestree Park (Note change of venue) The venue for next Monday’s proposed outing is Allestree Park rather than going out to Ladybower Reservoir.   Meet at 6.30pm close to the main house in Allestree Park with a view to meeting for a drink later in the evening (depending on the weather) at the Broadway Pub on the A6, Duffield Road (close to Darley Park). 28th - Barry Thompson   The Camera Never Lies – Or Does It? City Photographic member Barry takes us on a brief tour of the history of photography, showing us the iconic work of photographers like Fox Talbot, Eisenstaedt, Karsh, Bresson, Snowdon, Leibovitz and Testino, with hands-on examples of some of the cameras they used including Leica, Kodak, Mamiya and Rolleiflex.  Barry will then get right up to date, looking at some of the ways in which digital images can be manipulated to give a lie to the title of the talk.
