Welcome

FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Thank you for visiting our website. I will thank you even more if you visit our club, especially as we are entering an exciting new phase in moving to a new venue: Strutts Community Centre in Belper.

Over 40 years, Derby City Photographic has also built up a reputation as a friendly club where prospective members are given a warm welcome. They also come into a healthy fold of eager-to-learn beginners right through to experienced practitioners who both inspire and help others.

We also have an enviable reputation for the quality of our lectures, and encourage the spirit of competition through monthly themed contests in both digital and print.

We have a flourishing photo library, too – over 100 books.

Derby City PC is also one of the 40-plus members of the North & East Midlands Photographic Federation (N&EMPF) which is itself affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB).

COMPETITION 1
BRITISH SEASIDE (PDI)

Judge: Sue Wilson DPAGB BPE3

This theme can cover everything from a deserted beach to people packed like sardines, as well as aspects of a seaside resort such as amusement arcades, ice cream vans, lidos, piers and natural coves. The sea can feature or not, just as long as the image is within Britain and identifiable as being beside the sea.

MEMBER’S LECTURE

IAN HUMPHRIES & NEIL PARTRIDGE present WILDLIFE

Club members Ian and Neil will be sharing their passion for wildlife photography in two separate and very different presentations.

In the first half, Ian takes us to Zambia where he visited three wildlife parks in two weeks, taking over 4,500 images and capturing rhinos, giraffes, elephants, leopards and other animals, along with an array of bird life including storks, vultures and many exotic and colourful avifauna.

In the second half, Neil – our Photographer of the Year for the last four years - charts his progress as a nature photographer. We’ve seen many award-winning wildlife shots by Neil, so it’s refreshing that he will be aiming to present a talk comprising images he’s never previously shown us.
