The Club Library

The Derby City Photo Library is both admired and envied as it has been a vital factor in attracting new members. Wouldn't you want to be part of a camera club that gave you the instant opportunity to borrow books which enable you to improve your technique, guide you to prime photo locations or inspire your image -making?

Our library is ever-growing (around 140 books at the last count) and covers a wide spectrum of subject matter. There is a large selection of books which will help you go to the next level in whatever area of photography interests you - portraiture, landscape, nature, sport, still life - while other books will introduce you to the special world of Mono, HDR (High Dynamic Range) and Infrared photography.

Other books can take you off to exciting photo locations only a few hours away - the Peak District, Lake District, Yorkshire Dales - while further books will open up the whole World.

You can gaze at the work of all the photo greats - Ansel Adams, David Bailey, Charlie Waite, Sebastiao Salgado - and see amazing images being produced by both amateur as well as professional photographers through our great collection of Landscape, Garden and Wildlife Photographer of the Year books.

We have introduced photo DVDs including profiles of war photographer Don McCullin and fashion and portrait icon Annie Leibowitz plus the Oscar-nominated Finding Vivian Maier.

As soon as you become a Full member, you are free to take out up to four books for up to four weeks. We don't believe there is a camera club anywhere that has such a rich resource.
