From our modest beginnings, we have established Derby City as a club that out of the 50- plus members of N&EMPF (North & East Midlands Photographic Federation), has long been in the top six at the annual N&EMPF Exhibition and, for even longer, has an enviable reputation for the quality of its lectures. We also encourage the spirit of competition through monthly themed contests in both digital and print.

Over 40 years, Derby City has also built up a reputation as a friendly club where prospective members are given a warm welcome. They also come into a healthy fold of eager-to-learn beginners right through to experienced practitioners who both inspire and help others.

We have always had the advantage over other clubs in meeting all year round, and no other club in the region has such a flourishing photo library – over 150 books - or a more professional, up-to-date website.

An evening of two distinct halves from one of N&EMPF’s most awarded photographers. The first half will concentrate on his love of sports photography and aims to show the importance of facial expressions and clean backgrounds to capture good sporting images. The second half of the evening kicks off with a trip to the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland and is completed by a selection of wildlife images.
